Online Quran Classes Course Path: From Qaida to Tajweed, Hifz and Hadith

Online Quran classes cover far more than reading. This guide maps every course in a sensible order, from the first Arabic letter to Tajweed, memorization, meaning and Hadith, so you can see where you or your child should start and what comes next.

Choosing between “Qaida”, “Nazra”, “Tajweed” and “Hifz” can be confusing if you did not grow up with these words. Every one of our Quran classes online is live and one-on-one, and they follow a natural order. You do not have to start at the beginning: the free trial level check places you at the right step.

Below is the full path, what each step involves, roughly who it suits, and how students move from one course to the next.

The course path at a glance

StepCourseYou can move on when…
1Noorani QaidaYou can join letters and read short words with vowels.
2Quran reading (Nazra)You read a page of the Mushaf steadily, with few mistakes.
3TajweedYou apply the main rules in your own recitation.
4Hifz and memorizationOngoing: from short surahs to the whole Quran.
AlongsideTranslation and TafseerAny time you read; meaning makes memorization easier.
AlongsideHadith and Islamic studiesAny age; pairs well with every step.

Arabic language classes are a separate path for students who want to understand Arabic itself.

Steps 1 and 2: the letters, then fluent reading

Noorani Qaida teaches each Arabic letter, its sound, how letters join, and the short and long vowels. Children from about four or five and adults starting from zero both begin here. Once words come smoothly, the student moves to reading directly from the Mushaf, page by page, with the teacher correcting each word.

Adults sometimes worry they are too old for the Qaida; they are not. See our guide to online Quran classes for adults, or what the first week looks like for beginners.

Step 3: Tajweed, reciting as it was revealed

Tajweed gives every letter its right: where it comes from, how heavy or light it is, and how long it lasts. Our online Tajweed classes run in four levels, from Makharij to Noon Sakin, Madd and Waqf, and finally fluent recitation of longer passages. Students who already know some rules start at the right level.

Step 4: memorization classes and the Hifz program

Memorization usually starts with the short surahs of Juz Amma, often while the student is still polishing Tajweed. Students aiming for the whole Quran join our hifz program, built on daily Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil so that what is memorized stays memorized. It costs the same as every other course.

Alongside: meaning, Hadith and Islamic studies

Understanding what you recite brings the Quran to life. Translation and Tafseer classes explain the meaning word by word in English, and our online Hadith course teaches well-known Hadith, manners and the basics of belief. Many students add one of these to their main course, for example 20 minutes of reading and 10 minutes of Hadith in the same class.

One price for every course

Moving from Qaida to Tajweed or Hifz does not change your fee. Every course uses the same plans, with male or female teachers at the same price:

PlanPriceBilling
Flex Monthly$45 a monthBilled monthly
Half-Year Saver$40 a month$240 every 6 months
Annual Best Value$35 a month$420 a year

Listed prices are for Monday–Friday plans: 20 one-on-one classes a month, 30 minutes each. For weekends, longer classes or a different number of days, message our team and we’ll work out the fee for your schedule.

Native Arab teacher packs for advanced recitation or Arabic: Starter 5 for $75, Core 10 for $130 and Intensive 20 for $220. Every new student starts with a 3-day free trial, with no card and no advance payment. You pay only after the trial, and only if you decide to continue. Full details are on our fees and plans page; US families can see class times by time zone on our online Quran classes USA page.

How long does each step take?

There is no fixed timetable, and we do not promise one. Progress depends on age, how often you take classes and how much you practise between them. A young child may spend longer on the Qaida than an adult, while an adult with a busy job may move more slowly through Hifz than a teenager. Your teacher reviews progress every month and tells you honestly when you are ready for the next step.
