Fasting in Islam, in brief
Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. The Quran explains its purpose: fasting was prescribed so that believers may attain taqwa, mindfulness of Allah (2:183). Ramadan is also the month in which the Quran was first revealed (2:185), which is why Muslims spend so much of it reciting and listening to the Quran.
For children, Ramadan is a wonderful time to build a lifelong bond with the Quran. For adults, it is the perfect moment to fix recitation or understand what is recited in Taraweeh. Our teachers help you set a goal for the month and reach it.
