Built for young learners and true beginners
The Qaida breaks Quran reading into small, achievable steps. Each lesson adds one new idea, so students never feel lost. For kids we keep lessons lively: plenty of praise, quick games with letters, and short classes that fit a young attention span. Adults get the same structure at a pace that respects busy schedules.
Lesson by lesson
- The alphabet: the 29 letters, their names and correct sounds from the start.
- Letter shapes: how letters change at the beginning, middle and end of a word, and how they join.
- Harakat: fatha, kasra and damma, the short vowels that bring letters to life.
- Tanween, sukoon and shaddah: doubled vowels, silent letters and stressed letters.
- Long vowels (madd letters): alif, waw and ya, and the difference between short and long sounds.
- Reading words and phrases: practice lines taken from the Quran, with first Tajweed habits built in.
Tips for parents in the USA and abroad
- Pick a regular time that does not clash with school, homework or sports. Many families choose a slot right after school or on weekend mornings.
- Five to ten minutes of revision on non-class days makes a big difference. Your teacher will tell you what to practise.
- Sit with younger children for the first few lessons until they are comfortable on Zoom.
- Celebrate milestones. Finishing the Qaida and opening the Mushaf for the first time is a big moment.
When the Qaida is complete, students move on to Quran reading and then Tajweed. See our teaching method for how we track progress.
